Hey there. If you’re reading this blog you’re getting an eyefull of my daily (weekly) thoughts on how it strikes me living abroad. What’s “it”? The things that make my day interesting. The little travels I take. The (sometimes) amusing thoughts that they inspire. Occasionally I’ll take a stab at the serious. Mostly I’ll just be having fun with first-glance impressions and imperfect understandings.

Did you know that in English…
• Cherries was once both the singlar and plural form? It came from the French cerise. But cherries didn't sound right as a singular, so it was assumed that cherry was the singular. • The "mayday" distress call comes from m'aidez (help me) in French.Blogroll

Pet Peeves
• People who repeatedly ask you questions and then cut you off with rude responses. • Self-righteousnessBest Meals Ever (as best I can recall)
• Catania, Sicily (Italy). Restaurant unknown. Fresh four cheese and asparagus ravioli in Catania. Eaten with my sis J in a random cafe off the main road. 2000 • Marigot, St. Martin (Caribbean). Le Bar de la Mer. A water front restaurant with flirty French waiters, I had the most delicious, fresh red snapper with my sis R in '99. • Los Angeles, CA. Spago. I can't remember what I ate but it was some kind of pasta, and it made me pound the table with delight. 1998 • Sao Paulo, Brazil. A churrascaria (name currently forgotten but I'll find it) • Paris, France. Restaurant Music Hall. Foie gras, rare black cod, a dark chocolate dessert sampler. This restaurant has a gitchy light theme going on, but the food really takes the cake. The service is outstanding as well.

I randomly came across your page while searching for information about moving to Belgium, and it is awesome to read about your trips and thoughts on Belgium. My Boyfriend grew up in Belgium, (why I would be moving there) and have been there multiple times, but it’s nice to hear someone else’s views on it.
I’m from Washington State. Good luck with the residency!
